My wife says that we keep going back to the same old places, year after year.
She says that I just want to go back to places that I have been to before.
Maybe that’s true.
Point2Ponder “When is the last time you went back to a place…just because of the memories?”
I have favorite spots in this world.
We all do—the places we enjoy so much, we daydream about when we get to visit again.
One of those places is Cleveland, Tennessee.
Yes Cleveland, TENNESSEE, not Ohio!
It is outside of Chattanooga, off of Interstate 75, on the way to Knoxville.
It is a sleepy little town…
Except for one thing—IT is a COLLEGE town!
Lee University—where our daughter graduated.
I have been back to that town at least 100 times in the past 15 years.
She started going in 2000, and she graduated in 2006—I know, I know—6 years?
Yeh—she took a little time off before returning to school.
I have such fond memories of that town.
Our daughter used to live there, so we went to visit her.
When she was in school, and when she graduated and decided to stay in Cleveland.
We always thought she would come home after graduation.
She had become accustomed to this little sleepy town and made it her home.
And that’s exactly what it was…until it wasn’t.
So… we really have no reason to visit Cleveland, Tennessee anymore.
Our girl is long gone—to Pittsburgh, no less!
No reason at all…
Except…for the memories.
Funny thing about memories.
When you are young, you are so busy living life you forget to make memories.
When you get older, you want the world to slow down so you can take time out to make memories.
When you are old, all you want to do is go back to the places where you made the “Best” memories—
To relive them!
To recapture that feeling you had while making them!
To reenact the experience of “living” that moment!
All because—it was just so priceless that all you want to do is get that moment back—
Even if– it’s but for a moment.
Even if—it’s going to take 575 miles to get there.
Even if—it’s going to be a whirlwind 3 days trip in the car.
We’re going back to Cleveland!
