Scripture : Proverbs 18:24
A Man who has friends must shew himself friendly; and there is a friend who
sticks closer than a brother!
Points To Ponder
Friendship is at the core of relationships that make a difference in our lives. Friends are
the ones we choose. They have the characteristics that drew us to them. They had
something that enticed us into extending our heart and our effort.
That’s the key—It Takes Effort!
A Man who has friends must show himself friendly. In order to get a friend, you must be
a friend. That takes the following: You have to give friendship LIFE!
L = Letting that person know that they count in your life
I = Investing your attention and focus into growing the friendship by making
them a priority
F = Finding time to spend together to cultivate; on the phone, in a letter, in a
card, in a text, in person!
E = Effort is NECESSARY! You can’t build a lifelong friendship without making
that a top goal!
Just like LIFE is needed for earthly relationships, it is mandatory for your
heavenly relationship with Christ.
This scripture promises us that HE sticks closer than a brother.
If you have a good relationship with your brother…then you know, that’s close!
Apply LIFE to your relationship with Jesus.
(L) Let Him Know He counts in your life!
(I) Invest time and put effort into time alone with God and time to wait on the Lord.
Don’t be in a rush…Wait on the Lord.
(F) Schedule time alone to meditate on the Word and to tell the Lord how grateful
you are for HIM, not what He does.
(E) This will NOT happen on its own! It takes Effort on your part to set aside time,
give undivided attention and show love.
To Jesus—the one who has promised to stick by you closer than your own
brother!
You’ve got to give…in order to get!
Give Him Time…to Get His Attention!
Let’s Pray Together
Lord, it is my desire to draw closer to you so I can listen to your voice and know
your direction for me.
It is my priority to spend quality time in your presence, just to show my
appreciation for all that you have given me and all that I have in my life that I owe
to you.
You are worth my time: You deserve my attention.
I pray that I please you with my life…you are my priority.
In the name of Jesus, I pray.
Amen
