Theme: Where Ya Gonna Go?
Scripture : John 6:66-69
From that time many of His disciples went back, and walked no more with Him.
Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter
answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life.
And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the Living God!”
Points To Ponder
To set this passage up, you have to know what led up to this. The crowds were
gathered to see the miracles that He performed. Jesus sensed that they were just
awed by the miracles. He turned to the crowd and started talking about eating of
His flesh and drinking His blood in order to enter Heaven, and the crowd said
“this is a hard saying!” They didn’t want to hear this, they just wanted to see
people healed. That hard saying caused many of the “Johnny come lately”
disciples to shake their head and walk away.
This grieved the Lord. He actually felt betrayed. He felt lonely and
misunderstood—He was human and He was God. He looked to His friends, the
twelve He had personally chosen, and He asked “will you also go away?”
Then my boy Peter, the knucklehead, the headstrong, passionate “Petros!”
meaning rock said the words that I turned into a song.
“Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life!”
He captured it in a nutshell—where we gonna go? You are the real deal!
Maybe you are at a crossroads in your Christian walk. You are questioning
whether all this is for real? You are wondering if maybe you should just back up,
turn around and go in a different direction.
Let me ask you, Where ya gonna go?
There’s only one who is Alive forevermore!
There’s only one who Heals still today!
There’s only one who is available whenever you need a friend or a Savior!
There’s only one who has the words of Life!
The Words of Life!
There’s only one…so where ya gonna go?
Peter the knucklehead said it best for all the knuckleheads to come after him, like
I believe and am CERTAIN that thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God!
Settle that in your spirit and write it on your heart today!
There’s only one!
Let’s Pray Together
Heavenly Father, thank you for always being available whenever I need you. I
know that you are “the Only One” who can heal and save and restore. I rely on
you to be all of those things in my life. I am certain that you are the Christ, the
Son of the Living God and I determine this day to say “where could I go but to the
Lord!” Thank you for always being there for me!
