Day 12: A Living Sacrifice, Romans 12:1-2

Your Daily Dose

Theme: A Living Sacrifice

Scripture : Romans 12:1-2

I beseech ye therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your

bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable onto God, which is your

reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed,

by the renewing of your mind, so you can prove what is that good, and

acceptable and perfect will of God.

Points To Ponder

This passage was the scripture theme for the youth group that I grew up in, the

Young Gospel Singers. They were a group of 80 teenagers who travelled

nationally, singing for the Lord. We would never know what songs we were going

to sing because, that all depended on what the Lord laid on someone’s heart at

that moment that they were in front of the microphone, testifying. And

sometimes, even while they were testifying, the musicians didn’t know which

song they had chosen. It was a time of complete reliance on the Lord and also a

time of complete freedom to follow the Spirit of God as He led us each night.

And a time for a living sacrifice—our lives.

This scripture is begging us, that’s what beseech means, to present our bodies,

not just the flesh part, but also the mind and spirit, as a living sacrifice.

Why a “living” sacrifice?

Question to you- how many times can you sacrifice a DEAD thing?

Only once.

And then…you need another DEAD sacrifice.

But…if it were LIVING?

You could sacrifice it on a daily basis—all over again, as if it were new!

Another scripture states that we are to take up our cross daily and follow Jesus.

This “living sacrifice” thing is challenging you to dig deep in your spirit and

connect to Spirit of God…

And prove(another word for learn) what is the 3 types of Will of Good.

Good. Acceptable. Perfect.

I can tell you- I’ve been in all three.

Good. You know you are doing the right thing for God, but..you also are doing

Your Thing too.

Acceptable. You know what the right thing to do is, and you are going through the

motions, but your heart’s not in it.

Perfect. Bells and whistles, 100% in, throwing caution to the wind and diving deep

into doing whatever He asks-wholeheartedly!

So????

Where are you?

I can tell you that the only way to be in the perfect will of God…

Takes Transforming your Mind!

What?

To transform means to take from something that was and turn into something

that wasn’t…

Until you transformed!

When you put your mind on things that are spiritual and have a heavenly purpose

and reward…

You don’t see it as “what’s in it for me?”

No…you see it as “what more can I give so I can continue to please my Lord and

Savior!”

It’s not about being TOLD what to do…

It’s the old “Just Because” test.

When you do it Just Because…you love somebody—that passes the test!

Live your life to be a daily living sacrifice, transforming the way you think and act,

jumping into the perfect will of God..

Just because you love HIM so much you just don’t want to do anything less than

your best!

And renew your mind…daily…with His blessings, His promises, His love.

So that each day is a NEW experience with a renewed mind that has been

transformed…

And does what it does just because…your heart and mind and soul…

Love the Lord!

Let’s Pray Together

Heavenly Father, Help me learn what is the good, acceptable and perfect will of

God-- for my life. Teach me how to live my life each day to please you. Show me

how to transform my life by daily renewing my mind so I can be pleasing in action

and deed… to you. I do this so I can show how much I love and appreciate you in

my life. Every day, I promise, I will live my life to be a reflection of you in my

life…just because… I love you.

Amen
