Theme: What Do you see out there?

Scripture : I Kings 18:41-46

And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth,

And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and

looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.

And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little

cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand.

Points To Ponder

This story comes right after Elijah has demanded that the people of Israel choose

between the Lord and Baal. The Lord brought fire from Heaven and showed up in

front of Israel, and they returned to Him and worshipped Him as the true Lord

Then you see this story unfold.

Israel has been in 7 years of NO Rain!

And yet…here is Israel, praying again, asking his servant to go look to see what

he sees.

The servant went toward the sea to look for rain—but each time, nothing.

Seven times—still, nothing.

Think about it.

Elijah, who had just prayed a 63 word prayer that summoned fire from Heaven…

Was now praying for rain, but nothing was happening.

Most of us would have given up.

But…if we had, we would NOT have seen that rain cloud that looked like a man’s

We give up too quickly.

“I guess God didn’t want me to be healed. Oh well, guess I will quit praying and

accept that I won’t get healed!”

“Guess God just doesn’t want my family to get saved. I pray and nothing

happened. Guess it’s not meant for them to be saved.”

When none of that is true!

God DOES want you to be healed and He DOES want your family to be saved.

But sometimes…

It takes a little spiritual elbow grease—You gotta work for it!

By praying and believing even BEFORE you start SEEING!

You have to put feet to your faith…

You have to praise HIM before you get a thing.

And don’t stop what you’re doing…

Stay CALM and PRAY ON!

And someday, when God decides it is time…

You will look to the sea and see…

That cloud of blessing looking like a man’s hand—waving back at you—saying

“I’m Here!”

Let’s Pray Together

God, teach me endurance so I can keep believing no matter what I’m seeing, so I

can trust in what you promised me and not in what my eyes see, so I can remind

my heart, soul and mind that what God promises HE is able to deliver, in HIS time.

Teach me to see the cloud before it’s there…and help me get my raincoat and

galoshes ready for the rain that’s coming into my life! Showers of Blessings that

only you can send…when you are ready! Help me be patient and persistent while

I wait for my rain!

In Jesus’ Holy name I pray,
